The time is coming to call it quits for the Counter-Strike servers.
I just don't have the time or desire to keep them going anymore. I'm sure many of you saw this coming miles away, so here it is. They'll be going down sometime in the not so distant future. I might someday put up another CS server, but don't bet on it. I haven't even played the game since February or March.
I have no plans to destroy the BF1942 server. I plan to continue playing that game whenever I have time for it (not that any of this so-called "time" is forseeable), and the server requires a lot less of my time to manage on the server side.
Thanks to all of you who have given support to BfB's CS community, and "You're welcome!" to all of you who have thanked me for hosting the servers.

Upgraded the CS servers to Metamod version 1.16. This should fix all the CS hitbox problems.

There's a Battlefield 1942 server up now (BeerForBreakfast BF1) at 66.111.111.66:14567. For now, it's just plain BF1942 Conquest.

Blown power supply: 1, Old hard drive: 0. Bye-bye, Quantum Atlas 10K III 18GB U2W-SCSI.
After reeking of fire, spending half an hour in the freezer and another couple of hours sandwiched between two bags of ice, the old BfB hard drive caved in and decided to cough up the data I hadn't yet backed up. It wasn't a pretty process, nor a quiet one, but I think it's all intact.
BfB uber alles

Forums are back. I restored the users from January 17, 2003, but the posts are all gone, gone, gone.
I wish it was not this way, but it couldn't be helped.

Filesystem corruption. Lost data. Forums probably hosed. Stats reset. More later.

I know the servers have been up and down and lagging for the past week or so, but I'm done raping the CPU now, so go about your normal playing habits.

The IP address for bfb.bogleg.org has changed from 209.41.98.2 to 66.111.111.66. BfB-CS1 now runs on the default port (27015), and BfB-CS2 now runs on port 27016 (I know, confusing since that's where BfB-CS1 was previously -- bummer).
